TIPS FOR TRANSITIONING FROM RELAXED HAIR TO NATURAL HAIR

1. Put more focus on the Line of Demarcation – The line of demarcation is where your relaxed hair and natural hair meet. Make sure you focus more on the natural part so as to avoid breakage.

2. Enjoy the transition and don't get caught up with overnight growth - just keep doing the right thing by focusing on your normal hair routines, don't be overwhelmed by the thought of overnight growth. Your hair will definitely grow.

3. Expect to see a loss of hair length - at this point of transitioning, have realistic expectations, don't expect an overnight growth or sudden growth of your natural hair. Just be patient about it. It's also important to know that the natural hair is kinky and curly and also shrinks.

4. Deep Condition - don't get tired of this. Do this often when you're less busy, deep conditioning the hair helps prevent breakage, repairs damaged scalp and lots more. Check out these DIY Deep Conditioners

5. Treat your hair as NATURAL - treat your hair like a pure natural hair. You know what I mean....Do twist outs, braids outs, curls, Bantu knots, get natural hair products, avoid straightening the hair, avoid heat, etc. These would help your transition, and before you do a big chop, you would have gotten used to wearing your own natural hair.

6. Keep your scalp clean - YES, your scalp needs to be clean always, treat it gently and do not ignore massaging to your scalp. Use natural oils to massage your scalp, such as coconut oil. Also wash your scalp to prevent dandruff.

7. Trim your ends - and I mean the relaxed part. You can do these every 6 weeks or 3 months until you're completely natural. Trimming split ends can prevent breakage. Remember, since you don't need the relaxed part again and you're really convinced about going natural, then this is a big opportunity for you to do a big chop.

8. Protect your hair strands - since you're transitioning, you need to protect your hair strands from damage. Your hair at a Transitioning stage is very fragile, so do your best to protect it.

9. Choose the right styles - avoid styles that'll break your hair, especially your edges. As a Naturalista, get used to doing natural hair styles like:

*Braids and braid-outs
*Two-strand twists, flat twists and twist-outs
*BunsRoller sets
*Flexi-rod sets
*Bantu knots and knot-outs

10. BE PATIENT!!! BE POSITIVE!!!

NATURAL HAIR GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS - 1

Hi Naturalista, I know what's on your mind.... "I want a long and healthy natural hair and I wish it can happen overnight".... Yes, you can grow an inch at least overnight if you are maintaining the hair properly. But all we need is PATIENCE!!! I'll just share few tips you need to achieve a healthy natural hair. First off, every single Naturalista must have these 5 things on her hair hack: Sulfate-free shampoo  Get a shampoo that's sulfate-free. Benefits of using Denman Brush for Natural Hair

What is a Denman Brush? It's a detangling tool for curly or kinky hair which is used mainly on natural hair types 3C and type 4(A, B, C) hair when wet, which helps achieve curl definition. Some Denman Brushes come with different rows of bristles. Though it's best to purchase a brush that uses 5 - 7 rows of bristles for your natural hair. You can also modify the hair brush by removing row of bristles, if you feel the rows are too much for your hair. But make sure you're using the brush gently on your hair to avoid unnecessary hair pulling. A Denman Brush distributes hair products evenly in your hair. Note that, no matter what detangling tool you use on your hair, you must use a conditioner with it, so as to allow the tool slide through your hair easily.  It's best to section your hair before detangling and while detangling, start from the end of your hair and slowly work your way to the roots. Just try to take your time while detangling, inorder t...
